Lady Sybil's Pet Dragon

This dragon concept is from Terry Pratchett's Discworld Illustrated Novel, "The Last Hero", illustrated by Paul Kidby. I adore Kidby's style, and the similarities to the World of Warcraftian art style could not be ignored. While the focus of the project was in the texture painting, I got a lot of excellent sculpting and retopology practice in as well. All of the texture painting was done in Blender with standard brushes! I used a multi-layered approach where I incorporated alpha masks for the scale pattern and separation of certain colors, which was a bit of an experiment that turned out beautifully.
